Blasting for new construction to begin in June
Mattamy is currently preparing for the upcoming servicing of the Fairwinds West subdivision at the intersection of Maple Grove Road and Johnwoods Street.
In order to install the underground infrastructure, Mattamy will need to remove approximately 50,000 cubic meters of rock through blasting. To ensure that they follow the statutory protocol, they have commissioned a pre-blast survey of all homes located within 60 meters of the blasting by an independent third party to ensure that any damage that occurs as a result of the blasting can be easily identified.
Homeowners will be notified via letter that the survey is taking place and asked to allow the company access to their homes for review. In the event that a resident does not respond, Mattamy will attempt twice more to contact them. If the residents do not wish to allow access they may have difficulties filing claims for potential repairs. The survey is conducted and includes photos and videos of the foundation as well as the interior of the homes. This process will take approximately three weeks and blasting will not begin until this is complete.
Additionally, Mattamy will be notifying all of our existing homeowners in the area of the proceedings with an email notification using our internal distribution process. The blasting is scheduled to begin the first week of June and should last eight weeks.
Should you have any issues or concerns regarding the blasting you may contact Mattamy at 1-877-628- 8269.
