A plan of subdvision has been submitted for the land at 173 Huntmar, a strip of land just north of Fairwinds. You can read the plan and supporting documents here: http://ottwatch.ca/devapps/D07-16-14-0016
In a nutshell: “Permit the development of a mixed-use subdivision with residential and commercial uses, consisting of 13 low rise apartment buildings, 12 townhouses blocks and two four storey commercial buildings with retail on the ground floor and office uses above.”
The property includes a 19th century stone farmhouse known as “Boyd House” that would be preserved as a commercial building, along with the land immediately surrounding it. One of the reports recommends saving the trees around the house, as well as the long line of trees along the north lane way.
We would encourage Fairwinds residents to review the plan and reports and let us know about any of your concerns or comments at email@example.com. This development is of particular interest to residents in Fairwinds North, who will be closest to the development. We’ll be discussing this plan and your feedback at our next Fairwinds board meeting in early August.
You can comment on the plan until August 15, and there will be a public meeting likely in late August/early September.
