Councillor Qadri provided a few updates on traffic issues in our community:
- Huntmar & Maple Grove intersection: A traffic camera is still being deployed at the Huntmar/Maple Grove intersection. Traffic staff will provide information based on the data collected in the next few weeks.
- Rosehill: Speed and volume data for Rosehill (between Helm and Tramontana) was collected over 55 hours from September 23-25: “The operating speed of vehicles in the northbound direction was 40km/h and the operating speed in the southbound direction was 42km/h. This is below the unposted 50km/h speed limit. The operating speed is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or lower and is a standard used in Traffic Engineering when studying the operations of a roadway. As for the volumes, a total of 549 vehicles travelled through this location in a 24 hours period. This is considered well below the threshold of 1,000 vehicles in 24 hours, that the City of Ottawa uses for a local residential roadway, such as Rosehill.”
