Here’s a note from Councillor Qadri’s weekly email newsletter:
Recently several residents contacted my office regarding some area contractors/sub contractors staff not obeying the traffic laws in place. As I have in the past, I have been in touch with the 3 developers involved in this area to bring this to their attention that many contractors and subcontractors are not obeying the Highway Traffic rules set by the Province, specifically the stop signs as well as the speed limit signs in place. The letter was to implore them to please once more, as the area, although still under construction, there are many residents and children now living within, to get the message out to all development staff that they must accept their responsibility in respecting and obeying all the traffic laws in effect. All stop signs/traffic signs are to be obeyed, whether they are put in on a temporary post or installed permanently.
As I have in the past, I am continuing to request increased Police presence. I wanted them to also know that when a resident contacts my office on such concerns, I will be imploring them to please report these traffic infractions to Police at 613-236-1222 Ext 7300. I also advised that they take down company name/license plates/make and color of vehicle if possible as those details are helpful to Police.
This is definitely an issue in Fairwinds, particularly with the housing construction happening along Maple Grove / Johnwoods. Send us a note at email@example.com if you see any contractors or construction vehicles breaking the rules.
