On Tuesday, the City’s Planning Committee approved re-zoning for 173 Huntmar. Next it goes to City Council to vote on – date tbd.
Summary: “The purpose of the Zoning By-law amendment is to rezone the land from Development Reserve Zone (DR) to a Mixed-Use Centre Zone (MC) and a Parks and Open Space Zone (O1) to accommodate a proposed mixed-use development consisting of residential and commercial uses within a plan of subdivision. Certain modifications will also be made to MC zone. A holding zone will be applied to the lands, which will be permitted to be lifted when the necessary infrastructure is in place to satisfactorily service the development.”
We’ve heard from a few residents who have additional concerns about how the property will be developed. There will be additional opportunities for public consultation as this development goes through the planning process. According to the planner: “…each block will be subject to Site Plan Control approval, at which time further design details such as building placement and elevations, landscaping, screening, parking requirements, and pedestrian connections will be addressed. “
Also at Planning Committee yesterday, councillors approved heritage designation for Boyd House, the 19th century stone home on the property. That also needs final approval from City Council.
