Over $500 raised at annual Fairwinds BBQ

Fairwinds BBQ 2016

The Fairwinds Community Association would like to extend our thanks to all of the volunteers, sponsors and participants in our annual Fairwinds Community BBQ on September 10.

We estimate that over 500 people attended this year’s event, which makes it one of our most-attended community events ever. We also collected over $500 in donations for Lamitta, a young girl in our community with cerebral palsy, who is fundraising for an operation that is only available in the United States. (Read more about her here…)

We appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to more great events in our community in the months and years to come!

Thank you,

August 8: Monthly FCA Meeting

Our next Fairwinds Community Association meeting is Monday, August 8 at 7:30pm at the Stittsville CIBC Boardroom at 5527 Hazeldean Road.

It’s a light agenda this month. We’ll spend the bulk of our time talking about our two big summer events: the movie night on August 12 and the summer BBQ on September 10.  We also hope to have an update about traffic calming on Rosehill, and we’ll talk about an initiative to add a special dog waste bin to Bandmaster Park.

All neighbours are welcome. If you want to get involved in any of our activities or have a community concern to discuss we’d love to see you. Please RSVP to info@fairwindscommunity.com

Fairwinds Movie Night – Zootopia – RESCHEDULED!

Tonight’s outdoor movie night…. will now be an indoor movie night!
The weather can be funny sometimes.  Seems like it’s been weeks without any rain, and then Mother Nature decides to turn on the faucets on the day we’ve scheduled our annual outdoor movie night… and then again on our rain date!

Luckily we’ve found a solution.  Instead of cancelling movie night again, we’re moving it indoors!  The Grounds has offered to let us show ZOOTOPIA tonight (Saturday, August 13) inside the restaurant, starting at 5:00pm.

Leave the lawn chairs at home … we’ll still be providing popcorn … space will be limited to about 50 people … admissions is free but donations are appreciated … or you can buy a Fairwinds membership for $5 and we’ll enter you into a draw for a blu-ray copy of Zootopia.

Thanks again to realtors Geoff & Bobbie McGowan for their generous support of this year’s Fairwinds movie night, and to The Grounds for making their space available and giving us shelter from the rain!
